While Porsche answered enthusiasts’ calls to turbocharge its 964-generation 911 in 1990—once more utilising the 3.3-litre engine of the previous generation—some drivers were left wanting more. In 1993 the Stuttgart marque responded with the 3.6-litre Turbo, equipped with a new flat-six engine based on the unit fitted to the 911 Carrera 4. Producing 360 brake horsepower, the new model had larger 18-inch wheels, lower suspension, a front anti-roll bar, and a more aggressive look. Due to the impending arrival of the next-generation type-993, the 3.6-litre turbocharged variant of the 964 was available for just one year from 1993 to 1994, resulting in a relatively low production run comprising fewer than 1,500 examples.
The example offered here was delivered new to Germany on 15 June 1993. The 911 was finished in the Porsche special order colour of Oak Green Metallic over Sherwood Green carpets complemented by a green interior. It is believed to be one of only three type-964s built to this colour configuration. The car was later sold to the United Kingdom and re-registered in March 2001. After a year with its first UK owner, the Porsche was acquired by the consigning owner, who has kept the car since. Displaying 116,347 kilometres on its odometer at the time of cataloguing, the 911 retains its matching-numbers engine and is offered with its Porsche books, manuals, and tool roll.
Alors que Porsche a répondu en 1990 aux demandes des amateurs pour une version turbo de la 911 de génération 964 en reprenant le moteur 3,3 litres de la génération précédente, certains clients en ont demandé plus. En 1993, le constructeur de Stuttgart les a satisfaits avec la 3.6 Turbo, dotée d'un nouveau 6-cylindres à plat issu du moteur qui équipait la 911 Carrera 4. Développant 360 ch, ce nouveau modèle disposait de jantes de 18 pouces plus larges, d'une suspension surbaissée, d'une barre antiroulis avant et d'une allure plus agressive. A cause de l'arrivée imminente de la génération suivante (type 993), la version 3.6 Turbo de la 964 n'est restée disponible qu'un an, en 1993 à 1994, si bien que sa production n'a pas dépassé 1 500 exemplaires.
L'exemplaire proposé ici a été livré neuf en Allemagne le 15 juin 1993. Cette 911 a reçu une finition Porsche correspondant à une commande spéciale, de couleur "Oak Green Metallic" avec moquettes "Sherwood Green" et sellerie verte. Seulement trois exemplaires de Porsche 964 auraient vu le jour dans cette combinaison de teintes. Cette voiture a été ensuite vendue au Royaume-Uni ou elle a été immatriculée en mars 2001. Après un an chez son premier propriétaire anglais, elle a été achetée par l'actuel vendeur qui ne s'en est plus séparé. Affichant 116 347 km au compteur au moment de rédiger ce catalogue, cette 911 est dotée de son moteur d'origine (numéros concordants) et elle est vendue avec ses recueils, manuels et trousse à outils Porsche.
