Porsche replaced its 912 model in 1967 with the entry-level 911T. Originally fitted with a 2.0L/110 HP flat-6, the 911T’s engine grew in capacity and power. In 1970 displacement increased to 2,195cc, with a corresponding increase in power to 125 HP. More significantly, torque output increased from 116 to 130 lb-ft. Following standard Porsche practice, changes were evolutionary. In 1970’s C-series cars, steering effort and kickback were both reduced, despite the use of larger Fuchs wheels and tires. Aluminum body pieces were also introduced to further bump the power-to-weight ratio in the 911’s favor. The 911T was also the last 911 to be equipped with vented brake discs.
Purchased by Mario Sueiras in California in 2008, this 1970 Porsche 911T was discovered rust free and in excellent driving condition. It was originally finished in Blue, but it was restored by Mr. Sueiras to replicate a well-known racing 1966 911S coupe he had seen at the Auto Collections Museum in Las Vegas. When completed, it bore the racer’s Yellow paint with Burgundy and Blue stripes over a wide White stripe and White roundels. Its original Fuchs wheels match those of the racer, and the car bears the added touch of an imitation fuel cap on the front bonnet. These features are cosmetic only – the car has never been raced.
Kept in climate-controlled storage, this sporty 911T runs and drives perfectly.
