This 2007 Porsche GT3 is a low-mileage example with only 25,844 original miles. This GT3 is from the first generation of the 997 series of the Porsche 911 made from 2006-09. This is one of the very last series of GT3 models to be powered by the legendary Mezger engine, the same engine block used in all previous GT3s, Turbos, 956 race cars, 962 race cars and GT-1 race cars. It is also one of the last series of GT3 models to be available with the 6-speed manual transmission. The potent 3.6L flat-6 engine produces 415 HP in naturally aspirated tune.
Placed into a lightened body structure that weighs a mere 3,075 pounds, the 997—first generation—GT3 is a fast road car capable of accelerating from 0-60 MPH in 4.1 seconds. Its entire reason for existing was to meet the production output necessary to comply with FIA homologation rules for competition participation. The GT3 is more than just a warmed up 911; it is characteristically different in that it is a focused performance machine that is pared down to the bare necessities for purposes of maximizing straight-line speed, cornering capability and enhanced road feel.
The body of the car is fitted with aerodynamic zero-lift appendages that keep the GT3 firmly planted on the road up to its factory-rated top speed of 193 MPH. The cornering capability has been measured on the skidpad in excess of 1.0 g. This particular GT3 is also fitted with the optional carbon-ceramic brake rotors giving it massive stopping capability. This black-on-black 997 GT3 is a seriously fast investment-grade Porsche.
