Correspondence with Porsche shows that this US-specification 356 A Speedster was built in June 1956. Originally finished in white over a red interior and equipped with a 1600 S air-cooled, flat-four engine numbered 61934 (according to a copy of the Kardex) it was imported to New York via Max Hoffmann’s famed distributor.
After a stint in Jacksonville, Florida, the repainted car was advertised for sale in the 21 July 1986 edition of
Antique, Custom & Sportscar Trader
. Described as having had a “complete professional restoration, original and correct, red lacquer, black interior”, the asking price was $21,000. It was purchased by The Aumann Collection, who smartly negotiated the price down to $19,000, before enjoying the Speedster in Sarasota. Chassis 82351 was then shipped from Miami to Bremerhaven, Germany in May 1994.
Complemented by a history file, tool roll, tonneau cover, and spare wheel, this 356 further benefits from long-term custodianship and is ready to be driven in its current form or is a contender for renewed restoration.
Unterlagen aus dem Werk belegen, dass dieser Porsche 356 A Speedster in US-Spezifikation im Juni 1956 gebaut wurde. Original weiß mit rotem Innenraum und angetrieben von einem luftgekühlten 1600 S Boxermotor mit Nummer 61934 (einer Kopie der Kardex zufolge), wurde der Wagen von New Yorks berühmten Importeur Max Hoffman in die USA geholt.
Nach einem Aufenthalt in Jacksonville, Florida, wurde der Speedster in der Ausgabe vom 21. Juli 1986 des amerikanischen Fachblatts

zum Kauf angeboten. Der Beschreibung nach mit einer „professionellen Komplettrestaurierung, original und korrekt, Lack rot, innen schwarz“. Der Preis sollte damals 21.000 US-Dollar betragen. Gekauft hat den Wagen damals die Aumann Sammlung, die zunächst den Preis auf 19.000 US-Dollar herunterhandeln konnte, bevor der Speedster in Sarasota gefahren wurde. Chassis 82351 ging dann im Mai 1994 von Miami nach Bremerhaven.
Dieser 356 mit seinen umfangreichen historischen Unterlagen, der Werkzeugrolle, Persenning und Ersatzrad profitiert von langjährigem Verbleib in einer Hand. Er ist nun bereit für einen neuen Besitzer, sich an ihm in jetziger Form zu erfreuen, oder als Kandidat für eine erneute Restaurierung.
