Showing just 996 miles, this 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO is finished in black with red accents and rolls on low-profile tires with Ray’s black-painted 20-inch forged aluminum 6-spoke wheels. The body is fitted with the larger NISMO front splitter, a large diffuser, revised brake cooling ducts, and a host of carbon fiber components such as the hood, trunk lid, bumpers and rear wing.

Powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.8L/600 HP V-6 engine and dual-clutch paddle-shift 6-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel drive supercar features Recaro leather sport seats, an independent front and rear suspension with Bilstein Damptronic shocks, Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and a titanium exhaust system. In the early 1960s, Prince Motors began considering ways of broadening its market appeal. One of the thoughts was to compete in motorsport events, where the company could showcase not only its performance prowess, but its durability and robustness as well.

With this, in 1962, Prince was the first Japanese car company to sponsor a works team in the Liege-Sofia-Liege European rally. Neither of the two Skylines that were entered finished the rally, but it’s thought that this experience is when the idea for Nissan Motorsports International, or NISMO, began percolating and what inspired the company to press on and keep competing. Keep in mind, however, it wouldn’t be until 1966 when Prince and Nissan would merge. In 1964, Prince extended the wheelbase of the new S54 Skyline GT to accommodate a modified version of the Prince Gloria 2.0L inline 6-cylinder engine.

Entering these modified Skylines in the second Japanese Grand Prix, they would take second through sixth places. While they didn’t take first, that went to a Porsche 904, the competition and their overall performance indeed boosted their image and further piqued the interest of Nissan. Interestingly too, the loss in 1964 would hugely inspire the R380 Series race cars, which would dominate the Grand Prix in 1966, thusly launching both the NISMO and Skyline brands internationally and very officially between Nissan and Prince.
