SLR: since 1955 those initials, standing for "Sport Leicht Rennsport" (Sport Light Racing), have represented Mercedes-Benz engineering at its finest and most daring. The original 300SLR was derived from the great Mercedes-Benz W196 Grand Prix racers that first captured the Formula One World Championship in 1954. They repeated the feat the following year, compounding that remarkable success by scoring the World Sports Car Championship with the 1955 300SLR, essentially the W196 with full bodywork. Introduced in 2003, the new-generation SLR paid homage to M-B’s modern-era racing collaboration with Formula One partner McLaren.
Driven just 4,666 miles since new, this 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren showcases its combination of Formula One-inspired styling and engineering in dazzling metallic silver, a virtual necessity for this latest generation of the Silver Arrow lineage.
