Based on the preceding 12C, the 650S retained its predecessor's computerised hydraulically controlled suspension, albeit revised to improve the handling and ride at either end of the spectrum. Other upgrades included carbon-ceramic brakes, LED headlights, and Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres. Inside the cockpit, Alcantara was adopted as the standard trim material and there was an improved infotainment system, based on that of the P1.
For the 675LT, introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, the use of carbon fibre was extended, making the track evolution lighter (by 100kg) and stiffer than its 650S sibling. For the 675LT the carbon ceramic brakes were uprated and lighter wheels specified (19"/20" front/rear), shod with grippier Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tyres, the latter street-legal. The aerodynamics too were extensively revised, boasting a new rear wing/air brake, carbon fibre diffuser, and larger front splitter, the result of these changes being an increase in downforce of 40%.
Helping to achieve that 100kg weight saving over the 650S, the air conditioning was removed, new carbon fibre race seats installed, and thinner window glass adopted. As its nomenclature suggests, the 675LT's engine produced 675PS (666bhp) courtesy of extensive internal improvements and revised turbochargers. By the time production ceased in 2017, McLaren had made only 500 examples of the 675LT coupé and a further 500 of the open spider version.
Top Gear
was effusive in its praise of the McLaren 675LT: "Nothing less than one of the greatest automotive experiences ever. The bald performance figures tell some of the story: 0-62mph takes 2.9 seconds, 0-124mph is done in just 7.9 seconds, and its top speed is 205mph. But a more relevant number is the power-to-weight ratio: 542bhp-per-tonne, which suggests that McLaren might have driven itself to the brink of insanity in an effort to deliver the most focused driving experience imaginable... Half the components in the 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine are new, everything aft of the car's B pillars is new, and a whole heap of F1-inspired aero tricks have been employed to ramp up the 675's downforce.
It also borrows the P1's suspension, so while its acceleration can peel tarmac and the cornering forces are extraordinary, it also rides surprisingly sweetly... It really is mind-blowing."
Delivered new to Dubai and finished in blue with black/orange interior, and benefiting from a PPF (Paint Protection Film), this 675LT has covered only 18,850 kilometres from new. The car is offered from only its second owner with an extensive service history and is still under its manufacture warranty.
