Of all carmakers, Jaguar possesses one of the world’s richest and most successful motorsports legacies including five overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1950s alone. The E-Type of 1961-1974 was an instant success, and while sold without racing pretensions it carried the Jaguar banner quite successfully in battle against Ferrari and Aston Martin during the early 1960s nonetheless.
