Launched in 1984 as Ford’s first turbocharged front-wheel drive performance model, the Series 1 RS Turbo was developed with input from Ford’s Special Vehicle Engineering team and tested at Boreham, becoming an homologation-style road car. Acclaimed on release, it was praised for its strong performance, aggressive styling, limited-slip differential and motorsport pedigree, quickly establishing itself as the benchmark hot-hatch of the mid 1980s. This 1985 UK-supplied example presents smartly in Diamond White over a Recaro grey cloth interior and was first registered 26/08/1985.
Records indicate the engine was subject to a rebuild in 1994 and later professionally tuned by Power Engineering, with dyno sheets indicating 163bhp at 5,375rpm.
