Over the course of the 330 GT 2+2’s production run in Series I form—with earlier cars instantly identifiable thanks to the four-headlight layout—some 503 examples were made between 1963 and 1965. Of those, 453 were made in left-hand drive, including the example offered here. Marked as complete by the factory on 18 January 1965, the 330 GT 2+2 left the Maranello factory finished in Rosso paintwork over an interior appointed with Beige leather by Connolly. The Ferrari was equipped with a Tipo 209 4.0-litre “Colombo” V-12 engine mated to a four-speed gearbox with overdrive.
Chassis number 6685 was destined for the United States and was thus configured by the factory in left-hand drive and with its instruments reading in miles. The car was imported by Luigi Chinetti Motors of New York and soon delivered to its first owner. A change of hands is noted in 1979 as the Ferrari moved to New Jersey, and again in 1988 when it was exported to England. It was later taken to Japan and returned to the United Kingdom before being acquired by its consigning owner in Spain. Now finished in dark red over a tan leather interior, this Ferrari is sure to be enjoyed by its next caretaker.
Die von 1953 bis 1965 503-mal gebaute erste Serie des Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 ist sehr leicht durch die Front mit ihren Vierfachscheinwerfern erkennbar. 453 Exemplare davon entstanden mit Linkslenkung, wie auch das hier angebotene Exemplar. Der am 18. Januar 1965 als fertig deklarierte 330 GT 2+2 verließ das Werk in Maranello mit Lack in Rosso und einem Interieur mit beigem Connolly Leder. Der Tipo 209 „Colombo“ 4-Liter V12 ist mit einem manuellen Vierganggetriebe mit Overdrive verbunden.
Chassis 6685 war für die USA vorgesehen und wurde daher als Linkslenker mit Meilentacho gebaut und von Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York an den ersten amerikanischen Besitzer ausgeliefert. 1979 ist ein Besitzerwechsel verzeichnet, als der Ferrari in New Jersey auftaucht, und ein nächstes Mal 1988 bei einem Export nach Großbritannien. Später kam er nach Japan, kehrte nach Großbritannien zurück und ging dann nach Spanien. Heute präsentiert sich der Wagen in dunkelrot mit beigem Leder und steht für einen neuen Besitzer bereit.
