The Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 replaced the outgoing 250 GT 2+2 with its announcement at a 1964 official press conference. This 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 is Serial No. 6813 and retains its owner's manual and service records. The early production MkI model features 4-across headlamps, a V-12 engine and 4-speed overdrive transmission. The year 1965 was a transitional one for the 330 GT 2+2 as Ferrari changed to the MKII dual-headlight and 5-speed gearbox arrangement until production ended for 1968 with just fewer than 1,100 built . Only 500 MkI models were produced with center-lock knock-off Borrani wire wheels, deemed an extra-cost option by Ferrari on the alloy-wheeled MkII models.
Nestled into the hand-fabricated oval-tube steel chassis is a 4.0L 60-degree V-12 engine topped with triple downdraft 2-barrel carburetors for 300 HP at 6,600 RPM. The front-mounted V-12 is backed by a 4-speed transmission with integrated fifth overdrive. Independent double-wishbone front suspension joins a live rear axle with semi-elliptic springs, Koni adjustable shock absorbers and dual-circuit Dunlop 4-wheel disc-brake system for the grand-touring road control expected of a Ferrari. The Pininfarina-designed two-door 2+2 coupe body features the controversial 4-across headlight arrangement, along with at least 4 inches of extra legroom for rear-seat passengers, thanks to its longer design.
The Amaranto (dark red) exterior color matches the carpets in the black leather-upholstered four-place cabin. Deep cushioned low-back front bucket seats are joined by plus-two rear seating. Handcrafted wood meets aluminum on the Nardi steering wheel, steel tops the console-mount shifter, and surrounds sport instrumentation on the dash. The 330 GT 2+2 comes with its tool kit and spare-parts catalog.
