Two years after the vertical-finned 1957 Chevrolets bowed to the public, Chevrolet had added the Impala at the top of the lineup and the look was completely changed. Longer, lower and wider – a ubiquitous marketing claim at the time – the 1959 Chevrolets became a hit with admirers who liked its detailed styling and the huge rear deck that ended in those now-iconic horizontal “batwing” fins and “cat’s-eye” tail lights. The 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible offered here is the top-line Chevy at its best, a colorful grandee brimming with luxury, power and presence.
Fully restored in Roman Red paint, Red interior and tonneau and a White power convertible top, it comes well dressed with a front bumper guard, spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls and dual antennas. It uses the popular 348/280 HP Tri Power big block in conjunction with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic and is further optioned with power steering and brakes, tinted windshield, tissue dispenser, dual outside mirrors, imitation quarter exhaust outlets, chromed door handle nail guards and a modern addition: an upgraded sound system with trunk-mounted CD changer.
