Designed by the great Harley J. Earl, this gorgeous 1947 Buick Roadmaster Sedanet is a fantastic example that demonstrates the “Sweepspear” design concept that continues to be used to this day. The 320 CI Fireball Dynaflash straight 8-cylinder engine is coupled with a Carter downdraft carburetor that produces a respectable 150 HP. A column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, semi-floating rear axle and independent front coil springs provide all the comfort that is expected with this stately sedan. A simple yet elegant black paint job is complemented by the sleek fender skirts and stone shields.
Other exterior options include the war-inspired “Bombsight” hood ornament, dual mirrors and bumper guards. The classic gray interior includes a split-bench seat, Sonomatic pushbutton radio with antenna, and even a tissue dispenser. With its painted steel wheels, chrome trim rings and hubcaps, and wide whitewall tires, this Roadmaster truly lives up to the luxury implied by its name.
