Believed to be the first factory-built, officially UK-supplied, right-hand drive, ur-Quattro. Very well presented and in a rare colour. Introduced in 1980, the Quattro was based on the outwardly similar Coupé's bodyshell but used a different floorpan to accommodate its four-wheel drive transmission and independent rear suspension. The engine was a development of the five-cylinder, 2.1-litre, single-overhead camshaft unit first seen in the 200 saloon, equipped with a KKK turbocharger and produced 197bhp and 210lb/ft, remarkable at the time.
Although 17 LHD Quattros were converted to RHD by David Sutton Audi in mid-1981 (#85-BA chassis), many of which have now been restored, our vendor believes that this example was the first factory built, #85-CA chassis, RHD, official UK-spec car. Finished in Lhasa Green, a rare colour in Quattro production and particularly so in the very early cars. The car was found in 'barn find' state by our vendor a number of years ago and only now comes to sale as he has other more pressing projects. First UK-registered on 10/09/1982 and supplied with its V5C (stating RHD) and period literature from Audi VW and Club Audi.
The car presents really well and whilst we would suggest it would benefit from a level of recommissioning before regular use, this is a very special opportunity to acquire what is understood to be the UK's first right-hand drive, ur-Quattro.
