The Virage was Aston Martin's replacement for the decades old V8 models and introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1988. This V8 powered car was intended as the company's top model with their 6 cylinder 1994 DB7 slotted below it but this V8 model (by then in Vantage form) remained the exclusive, expensive and hand built king of Astons. The Virage was a large, heavy car in spite of its all aluminium body, but the 32-valve 5.3 litre V8 engines elevated its performance to sports car levels. "Acceleration just never seems to run out", claimed Sports Car International on a first test.
They also praised the "eager and quicker revving" nature of the engine with its Callaway designed heads and Weber Marelli fuel injection. "Nothing sounds quite like an Aston V8”, they concluded. The Virage Volante debuted at the 1990 Birmingham Motor Show with production examples beginning in 1992 featuring 2+2 seating.
Originally registered on 10th June 1992, this Aston Martin is owned by a classic car enthusiast and presents in very good order. The blue metallic coachwork is unblemished as is the blue hood. This highly collectable Virage Volante benefits from a good service record, included in the receipts is a bill from Ian Mason Aston Martin Service on 11th November 2005 at 24,880 miles for removal and skimming of the cylinder heads costing over £16,000.
Described by the vendor as driving well with no known mechanical faults, although he is aware of a problem with the odometer which is a common problem on these models, records indicate that the car had covered 34,021 miles in February 2019 and has covered minimal mileage since. It is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 18th February 2020 with no advisories and the original handbooks, together with the AMV 4S registration plate. Only 233 Virage Volantes were manufactured and sold by Aston Martin and with later examples creeping up in price, any Volante looks to be a sound future investment proposition.
In particular, this vehicle, with its good condition, is a great opportunity for the serious investor or collector to acquire one of the last hand built cars made by Aston Martin.
