Debuted at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Alfa Romeo 8C spider was built by Italy’s Carrozzeria Marazzi. Production was confirmed by Sergio Marchionne on September 25, 2007, and a limited production run of 500 units was envisioned with a cost of approximately $227,000. The production version was introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, and production began during 2009 in Modena, with Maserati in charge of manufacturing both the spider and coupe. Only 329 Spiders were ultimately produced, due to the vast impact of the 2008-2011 Great Recession. Of those 329, just 35 were destined for the United States.

According to Alfa Romeo, the 8C spider was capable of reaching 290 KPH (180 MPH). Harnessing that performance are Brembo carbon-ceramic units and a steel chassis. The 8C spider has a two-layer, electrically operated, fabric roof and a carbon fiber windshield frame, helping the 8C spider maintain a 50/50 weight distribution. Styling for the 8C spider was executed by Alfa Romeo Chief Stylist Wolfgang Egger, who would later go on to positions at Audi and Lamborghini. One of the 35 Alfa Romeo 8C spiders built for the U.S. market, this example carries S/N 50324, and its stunning carbon fiber body features unique Giallo (yellow) paint, as ordered by the Bachmans.

The odometer reads a mere 95 miles at the time of writing. A formidable performer with its 4.7L/444 HP V-8 engine and F1 automatic transmission, this 8C spider’s many features include a power-operated Rosso (red) convertible top and matching interior, plus a center console, dual-zone climate control, a leather headliner, quad exhaust tips, Rosso brake calipers and even a fire extinguisher. The legendary “Quadrifoglio,” the four-leaf clover good luck symbol used on Alfa Romeo race cars of the past, is painted on the sides of the 8C. Road contact is via 10-spoke alloy wheels with Alfa Romeo center caps.

Awarded the Shadwell Cup at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in 2011, this exceedingly rare, U.S.-spec 2009 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is accompanied by a window sticker, books and manuals.
