        Toyota and Nissan Halt Production After Japan Earthquake

        A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan's Kumamoto region has forced Toyota and Nissan to temporarily suspend production at several factories in southwestern Japan. Although the automakers' facilities escaped major structural damage, disruptions to suppliers and local infrastructure have created significant challenges for manufacturing operations. Toyota confirmed that all three of its affected plants will remain closed until Friday after an initial attempt to restart production. Nissan's affected factories also produce vehicles including the Infiniti QX80 and Nissan Armada, both of which are sold in international markets.
