    Dodge Hemi Daytona, 1969

Chassis No.: XX29J9B409076 Auction: Monterey 2026 Auction date: August 15, 2026 Lot No.: R191 • Odometer: 21,136 miles • Engine: V-8 • Transmission: Automatic • Exterior: Spring Green • Interior: Black • 1 of 70 Hemi Daytonas produced in 1969 • 1 of approximately 39 cars known to exist • 1 of 2 known examples in F6 Spring Green Metallic • Sold new at Vern Holmes, Inc. in Long Beach, California • Documented with the broadcast sheet • One professional repaint in the original color • Original paint in engine bay • Original drivetrain • Matching numbers 426/425 HP Hemi V-8 engine • Dual Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetors • Automatic transmission • A32 Super Performance axle package with 4.10 gears • Power steering • Power front disc brakes • Original Black bucket seat interior Any 1969 Hemi Dodge Charger Daytona will place a collector toward the pinnacle of muscle car ownership hierarchy. Noted by expert Dave Wise as a “semi-survivor,” this example hosts the original drivetrain, original interior and a single repaint to its unique factory color, with original paint still seen in the engine bay. Only 39 of the mere 70 Hemi Daytonas built are now believed to exist, and this car is one of just two known examples painted in the limited-release F6 Spring Green Metallic. Sold new at Vern Holmes, Inc. in Long Beach, California, this car is documented with an original broadcast sheet as well as the aforementioned MMC Detroit Wise inspection report. Rare for any 426 Hemi vehicle, the car still hosts its matching-numbers 426/425 HP Hemi V-8 engine, the race-derived powerplant that became one of the most notorious releases of the American muscle car era. Dual Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetors, massive dimensions and the trademark black valve covers are here, backed by the A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. This came as part of the car’s A32 Super Performance axle package, meaning a 4.10-geared Dana 60 SureGrip differential as well as the 26-inch radiator, maximum cooling pieces and power front disc brakes. This car also has power steering. The Spring Green Metallic F6 paint is highlighted by a black Daytona-lettered rear wing and all the aerodynamic pieces created to win on the racetrack: nose cone with hood pins, air extractors, special rear window and chrome A-frame shields. Inside is the original black bucket seat interior. This includes the center console with wood-grain trim and chrome shifter, variable speed wipers, the simulated wood-grain steering wheel, in-dash Tic-Toc-Tac and console-based vacuum gauge. A flip-open gas cap, chrome exhaust tips, Hemi door tags and dual outside mirrors accent the exterior, and the car’s final touch are the 1969 Kelsey-Hayes “recall” road wheels wearing a set of redline tires. Every Charger Daytona is wild, and the Hemi version is the wildest. This car’s documented origins, beautiful appearance and desirable ownership potential make this opportunity even more rare. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1176501/1969-dodge-hemi-daytona

    Dodge Daytona, 1969

Chassis No.: XX29L9B405170 Auction: The Eddie Vannoy Collection 2020 Auction date: June 30, 2020 Lot No.: V24 $231,000 | Sold • Exterior: Red • Interior: Black They came to do one thing—win. Indeed, when Dodge boss Bob McCurry first saw it, he only asked if it could finally give Dodge that big Daytona superspeedway title. The engineering guys said yes, and cars like this spectacularly refreshed Charger Daytona showed up in late 1969, among the ultimate “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” American supercars from this era. One of 503 Daytonas produced, this car is documented with its original broadcast sheet and window sticker. Moreover, the exacting nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration is to correct as-built specs, making this streamlined example of the upscale Charger R/T design even more attractive. Beneath the hood is this car’s matching-numbers 440 Magnum V-8 engine, pumping out 375 HP complete with its 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. This is backed by the legendary A727 TorqueFlite transmission as part of the A36 Performance Axle Package, which added the 8.75 Sure Grip differential with 3.55 gears. Equipped with power steering, this car showcases more than its aerodynamic enhancements (wing, nose cone, flush rear window and air extractors). It is covered in deep R6 Red with a white wing and black vinyl interior. Inside are bucket seats and a center console with shifter, Music Master AM radio, the sport steering wheel, tachometer with clock, and a remote driver's mirror. The exterior is enhanced with the tinted windshield, flip-top gas cap, hood pins, Daytona wing graphics and script Charger chrome trim. This car rides on styled road wheels and Firestone redline tires, which nicely complement the body color. Sold new at Western Dodge Inc. in Marion, Indiana, this Charger Daytona and its kin were part of a single production run, one that Dodge would never revisit. Alas, the hoped-for Daytona win was not part of its legacy (Plymouth’s similar Superbird got that honor in 1970), but the model helped Dodge win the Grand National series Championship with Bobby Isaac, and this example has faithfully continued that legacy ever since. https://www.mecum.com/lots/410160/1969-dodge-daytona/
