Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Shelby GT350H Hertz Rent-a-Racers, Shelby developed and offered the new 2006 GT-H exclusively to the Hertz rental-car company. Available as a coupe only for the 2006 model year, the GT-H was produced along a limited 500-car run with all finished in black (Code UA) paint with gold stripes as a tribute to Hertz’s famous 1966 Shelby GT350H Rent-a-Racer promotion. Features of the new cars included a rear spoiler, Hertz badging, power-adjustable side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets and Shelby-specific bodywork consisting of a revised hood, billet grille insert, hood retaining pins and side scoops.
Painted, 17-inch, cast aluminum wheels rounded out the exterior refinements. The Shelby GT-H package also included upgraded underpinnings comprising Ford Racing lowering springs, dampers and front and rear sway bars. Offered with the odometer reading just 9,363 miles at the time of writing, this 2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H bears Shelby CSM No. 06H342. While one of the 500 Shelby GT-H models produced for 2006, it was used as a Hertz executive car and not rented.
In addition to its 4.6L V-8 engine, highlights of this GT-H include an automatic transmission, black paint with gold Le Mans over-the-top and rocker stripes, leather upholstery and front bucket seats with a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Stopping is of course via 4-wheel disc brakes. Other equipment includes a power-bulge hood with retaining pins, a rear spoiler, Hertz Shelby GT-H sill plates, air conditioning, a Shaker AM/FM/CD stereo system, power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise control and five-spoke alloy wheels.
