The 1953 Ford F-100 1/2-ton pickup was introduced on March 13, 1953. It featured a sleeker, more modern look than the previous year’s model. The front axle was positioned four inches rearward of the previous location. The Ford “crest” emblem on the face of the wider hood was also a new detail. The headlight pods were recessed and connected to the new two-bar grille. The V-8 powered versions displayed an “eight-inside-the-V” type of front emblem in the grille center, like this truck shows.

Having been lowered and sitting at a “proper” front-slightly-lower stance; this Ford custom is powered by a V-8 engine that is paired with an automatic transmission that has a floor-shifter with a long, period-style shift lever. The truck is finished in black with a well-executed and tasteful cream colored interior that is matched on the door panels and kick panels. The Ford is well-appointed with a bright steering column with tilt steering wheel, leather-wrapped and matching Billet Specialties steering wheel, air conditioning, digital instrumentation, power steering and behind the glovebox door, a hidden AM/FM/CD unit.

Chrome bumpers at the front and rear, dual mirrors, dual taillights, steel wheels, factory caps and trim rings with blackwall tires create a modified look that reflects the period assertiveness of design.
