The De Tomaso Pantera was presented to the press in Modena in March 1970, before being formally revealed at the New York Motor Show some weeks later. Tom Tjaarda of Carrozzeria Ghia designed the coachwork and the engine was supplied by Ford as part of the distribution rights deal with De Tomaso. Production commenced in 1971 and the first examples featured a 5.8-litre 351 “Cleveland” V-8 allegedly capable of producing 330 horsepower.
While the early history of this example is unknown, this De Tomaso has been refinished in the style of FIA Group 4 De Tomaso Panteras—tying in with the Pantera’s connection to road and rally motorsport. Chassis number “03314” was recorded to have competed in classic racing events, including the 2002 Tour Auto, and 2018 edition of Le Mans Classic. Invoices from 2017 to 2020 add up to €42,379.68, with bills covering the fitment of an aluminium radiator, FIA-standard harness and Sparco Rev seat, Fidanza aluminium flywheel, four-into-one wrapped exhaust manifold, K&N Xtreme Flow air filter, Ram semi-metallic clutch, Stack Pro Gauges.
On 9 March 2020, Garage Llopis of Bandol, France, carried out a service and Contrôle Technique, at a cost of €2,789. Offered with this GTS is a history file containing documents, invoices and photographs of this Pantera racing, along with restoration and mechanical work carried out on the car. Please note, this Pantera GTS is accompanied by FIA HTP papers which will need to be renewed prior to racing.
La De Tomaso Pantera a été dévoilée à la presse en mars 1970 à Modène, avant d'être présentée officiellement quelques semaines plus tard au Salon de New York. Tom Tjaarda, de la Carrozzeria Ghia, avait dessiné la carrosserie et le moteur était fourni par Ford dans le cadre des accords de distribution signés avec De Tomaso. La production a commencé en 1971 et les premiers exemplaires étaient équipés d'un V8 "Cleveland" 351 ci (5,8 litres) capable de développer 330 ch.
L'historique de cette De Tomaso n'est pas connu dans ses premières années, mais elle a été refaite dans le style des De Tomaso Pantera FIA Groupe 4 — rappelant ainsi les liens de la Pantera avec le sport automobile et les rallyes. Des factures de 2017 à 2020 totalisent 42 379,68 € et mentionnent notamment la pose d'un radiateur en aluminium, de sièges baquets Sparco Rev homologués FIA avec harnais, d'un volant-moteur Fidanza en aluminium, d'un collecteur d'échappement quatre-en-un avec protection, d'un filtre à air K&N Xtreme Flow, d'un embrayage Ram bimétal, d'instruments Stack Pro. Le 9 mars 2020 le Garage Llopis, de Bandol, a effectué une révision et s'est chargé d'amener la voiture au contrôle technique, pour un coût de 2 789 €.
Cette GTS est vendue avec un dossier historique comportant des documents, des factures et des photos de cette Pantera en train de courir, ainsi que des travaux mécaniques et de carrosserie effectués sur la voiture.
