After roughly 2,000 kilometers of active track driving on my Porsche GT3 RS, I decided to replace my Pagid brake pads early, even though they weren’t completely worn out. The pads were at about 50–60% wear, and instead of pushing them through a couple more track days, I chose to change them in advance. On track, that’s the right approach: better to replace slightly early than deal with fading performance, overheating, or unnecessary risk.

At this point, with real mileage and experience, I can say with full confidence:

the Pagid + GiroDisc setup performs better on track than the factory Porsche carbon-ceramic brakes.

This is not criticism of PCCB — Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes are excellent. Lightweight, efficient, and perfect for road use and occasional track days. But when it comes to regular, hard track driving, GiroDisc steel rotors paired with Pagid Racing pads are simply a more effective and practical solution.

Why I replaced the pads early

On road cars, people often run brake pads almost to the limit. On track, that’s a bad idea.

Once pads reach around 50–60% wear and you still have serious track sessions ahead, you have to consider:

  • increased heat load,
  • reduced thermal stability,
  • potential changes in pedal feel,
  • faster wear under sustained load.

After 2,000 km of track use, the pads had proven themselves, and I preferred to reset the system rather than push them to the edge.

What I liked about Pagid

Pagid pads are not about branding — they are about performance.

What I experienced:

  • very clear and consistent pedal feel,
  • strong initial bite,
  • excellent repeatability lap after lap,
  • stable performance at high temperatures,
  • precise modulation.

On a GT3 RS, this is critical. The car is extremely fast, and you rely heavily on late braking. If the pedal is inconsistent or vague, you simply can’t drive at a high level.

With Pagid, the braking behavior is predictable and reliable every single lap.

Why GiroDisc is better than PCCB on track

Now speaking from real experience, not theory:

1. More aggressive and direct braking

Steel brakes feel more mechanical and direct. PCCB is excellent, but compared to GiroDisc it feels slightly more filtered and road-oriented.

2. Better for repeated heavy use

If you regularly drive on track, brakes become consumables. GiroDisc is designed for exactly that — heat, load, and repeatability without financial shock.

3. Much lower operating cost

This is a major factor. Carbon-ceramic brakes are fantastic — until you start using them hard on track. Then the costs become significant.

With GiroDisc:

  • discs are cheaper,
  • pads are cheaper,
  • wear is expected and manageable.

4. More confidence on track

Steel brakes give you confidence. You can push harder without constantly thinking about cost or fragility.

How to properly bed in new pads and discs

Many people install new pads and go straight to full attack. That’s a mistake.

Proper bedding ensures:

  • even material transfer,
  • stable braking,
  • longer lifespan,
  • no vibrations or uneven wear.

Step 1: Initial bedding

  • 5–10 light braking events
  • no aggressive stops
  • no holding the brake pedal after stopping

Goal: allow initial surface contact.

Step 2: Progressive heat cycles

  • accelerate to 100–110 km/h
  • brake smoothly to 60–70 km/h
  • release completely
  • repeat 5–6 times
  • allow airflow cooling between runs

Step 3: Higher load

  • 2–3 stronger braking events
  • still controlled, not extreme
  • always release and allow cooling

Step 4: Full cooldown

  • drive for 5–10 minutes without braking
  • do not stop immediately after heating

What not to do

  • no aggressive braking on cold new pads
  • no holding the brake pedal when hot
  • no immediate track attack after installation
  • no overheating during initial cycles

Final conclusion after 2,000 km

After real track use:

  • Pagid = excellent pads
  • GiroDisc = excellent rotors
  • together they outperform PCCB for track use
  • and they are significantly more cost-effective

This is no longer an experiment for me — it’s a proven setup. If you actually drive your Porsche GT3 RS on track, Pagid + GiroDisc is a setup I can confidently recommend.
