Alpine A310 Vision Revives French Sports Car Flair
Pop-down headlights, futuristic styling and more than 500 horsepower: the Alpine A310 Vision Concept gives a fresh electric twist to a classic French sports car. The original A310 arrived in 1971 as a roomier 2+2 alternative to the lightweight A110, eventually gaining a V6 engine. This concept swaps combustion power for the Alpine Performance Platform, the same architecture used by the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and planned for the electric A110 successor. Its hidden headlights emerge when the car powers up, while a dramatic rear design pushes the styling into cyberpunk territory. Alpine design chief Antony Villain says a limited production project is possible, but nothing is confirmed. No range or performance figures have been released, either. Could this striking coupe make it to production? And will Alpine’s electric sports cars ever reach the U.S. market?
