This new, road-going McLaren, however, was completely designed and built in-house and incorporated extensive use of carbon fiber and other technologies developed within McLaren’s winning F1 program. In 2011, the MP4-12C made its debut and set the automotive world alight. At its core, the MP4-12C featured an all-carbon fiber tub, or MonoCell, that weighed just 175 pounds but provided incredible strength and rigidity. For power, the new MP4-12C featured a 3.7L twin-turbocharged V-8—jointly developed with racing engine manufacturer Ilmor—that produced 616 HP and transmitted its power to the ground via a 7-speed, Seamless Shift, dual-clutch, semi-automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Over the course of the following decade, McLaren went on to refine and develop this road-going supercar into a continuous series of ever faster and more capable models. In 2020, McLaren debuted the 765LT, a track-inspired, long-tail version of the 720S. Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.0L M840T V-8 engine that was tuned to produce 755 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque and mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission, the 765LT was capable of launching from zero to 62 MPH in a neck-snapping 2.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 205 MPH. With a bespoke carbon fiber body, this 2022 McLaren 765LT Spider with just 1,730 miles is one of only 765 examples produced for 2022. Finished in blue with a black soft grain leather and faux suede interior, this rare and potent McLaren features lightweight seats with blue contrasting stitching, exposed carbon fiber weave interior appointments, an 8-inch vertical touch-screen entertainment center and keyless start.
