    Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 2004

Chassis No.: WP0ZZZ99Z4S691371 $270,000 | High bid • Odometer: 40,728 miles • Engine: Other • Transmission: Manual • Exterior: Carrara White • Interior: Black • Body: Coupe • The GT3 RS was introduced to homologate the 996-based RSR race car • 1 of 682 produced for RoW (rest of world) markets • Originally delivered to Norway • 3.6L Mezger flat 6-cylinder engine • Carrara White with Red graphics • 6-speed manual transaxle with limited-slip differential • Carbon fiber hood, side mirrors and rear wing • Fixed-back Recaro bucket seats • Roll cage with additional bracing and a Schroth harness for the driver • Polycarbonate rear window • The RSs suspension was 3mm lower than the standard GT3 and featured adjustable control arms • 4-wheel disc brakes with 6-piston front, 4-piston rear calipers and cross-drilled rotors • 18-inch GT3 wheels with Red centers Porsche’s GT3 racing program was running at full tilt in the early 2000s when it introduced the GT3 RS, a lightweight, race-ready, street-legal 911 built to homologate the 996-based GT3 RSR racer. Developed by Hans-Georg Breuer, engineer in charge of production-based racing power trains, the GT3 RS’s Mezger M96 flat-6 engine displaced 3.6 liters and incorporated a revised air intake system, smaller valves, a unique cam profile, low-mass flywheel and other modifications to meet FIA, Le Mans and ALMS regulations, developing 381 HP at 7,400 RPM and 284 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 RPM. A racing-geared, all-synchromesh 6-speed manual transaxle with limited-slip differential was the only available transmission. The RS’s suspension was 3mm lower than the standard GT3 and featured new sandcast uprights with larger bearings and adjustable coilover shocks and control arms. The Turbo’s cross-drilled disc brakes were employed with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers inside unique 18-inch multi-spoke GT3 alloy wheels. The RS was “commendably light,” thanks to such weight-saving features as minimal insulation, a polycarbonate rear window and a carbon fiber hood, side mirrors and rear wing. Built specifically to meet FIA GT rules, the GT3 RS was limited to 682 units for RoW (Rest of World) markets and never officially sold to the North American market, a fact that makes these cars very exclusive in the United States and Canada. This exceedingly rare 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS was originally delivered to Norway and later purchased by DK Engineering in the United Kingdom. It was imported into the United States and sent to Wallace Environmental Testing Laboratories in Dallas, Texas, for emissions modifications to meet domestic requirements applicable to the 2018 model year. Painted in RS-exclusive Carrara White with red accents and red wheel centers, its interior appointments include a factory roll cage with additional bracing, fixed-back Recaro bucket seats with a driver-side Schroth racing harness, an adjustable sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel with red accent stitching, black leather and microfiber upholstery, power windows, air conditioning, a GT3-branded tachometer and GT3 aluminum sill plates. This 2004 911 GT3 RS is among the rarest and most desirable of factory racing Porsches available in the North American market. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1152757/2004-porsche-911-gt3-rs/

    Porsche 911 GT3 Coupe, 2005

Chassis No.: WP0AC29915S692144 • Exterior: Gray • Interior: Black • Body: Coupe • Gray exterior • Black interior • 3.6 Liter Flat-6 engine • Factory-rated at 380 horsepower • 6-speed manual transmission • Limited slip differential • Air conditioning • Leather door trim • Leather shift knob trim • Multi-function remote • Trunk release • Telescopic steering wheel The Porsche GT3 took its name from the FIA Group GT3 in which it raced. North America missed out on the first-generation Mark I GT3 road car but did get the second-generation Mark II, which was introduced to a hungry market of Porsche purists in 2004 who were willing to make sacrifices in creature comforts for a rear-engine rear-wheel drive road-going race car experience that could only come from Porsche. The GT3 is the descendant of the Porsche RS, or race sport, and as such featured precisely what was required and nothing more. The 3.6L naturally aspirated flat six-cylinder engine produced 380 horsepower at a heady 7,400 RPM. The full 284 lb-ft of torque arrived at 5,000 RPM. The GT3 is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission to tip the engine toward the 8,200 RPM redline in every gear. The majority of torque was available lower in the RPM range, which when combined with a limited-slip differential launches the GT3 from 0-60 mph in just four seconds. All of this in a 996-based car that scales in at just 3,043 pounds. Lightness is achieved in part by eliminating sound deadening, the rear seat, and other non-essential items such as a sunroof. The ABS brakes on the GT3 feature six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears and can slow the car from 60 miles per hour in less than 100 feet. The exterior finish of the car is almost subtle enough to mask the race-tuned aerodynamics, which include a low chin spoiler, under car panels, and rear wing all designed to create maximum downforce, minimize drag, and eliminate unwanted lift. This Porsche GT3 is not entirely about sacrifice, and features air conditioning, stitched leather door, dash, shift knob, and center console trim, a multi-function remote with trunk release, and a telescoping steering wheel in the no-nonsense Black interior. https://www.mecum.com/lots/219760/2005-porsche-911-gt3-coupe/
