This 2013 Lotus Exige S is the ultimate embodiment of raw performance, agility and tenacious cornering grip. Presented in the classic color combination of British Racing Green with a yellow center racing stripe, the Exige S harks back to its predecessor Lotus motorsports icons, such as the type 19, type 23 and type 30. First introduced in 2000, the Lotus Exige went through multiple stages of development. By model-year 2012, the third-generation Exige was a radically improved car over that of its forefathers. That year, Lotus introduced a new 3.5L dual overhead-cam V-6 engine to replace the previous inline 4-cylinder powerplant.
Sourced from the Evora S, the V-6 engine was tuned by Lotus to produce 346 HP using a supercharger, improved porting, different camshaft timing and stronger internal reciprocating parts. To accommodate this new drivetrain, the wheelbase was increased by an additional 10 inches and the front and rear track was increased by 2 inches. The Exige S weighs in at a lightweight 2,380 pounds, and the power-to-weight ratio of this machine is an impressive 6.87:1. As you would guess, the performance is stunning with a 0-60 MPH time of 3.8 seconds, 0-100 MPH in just less than 9 seconds and a top speed of more than 170 MPH.
In typical Lotus fashion, racing aerodynamic appendages include a three-element rear wing, a rear air diffuser, a front air splitter and twin side scoops, enabling both a low coefficient of drag while simultaneously providing optimum downforce. The sticky Yokohama low-profile tires are mounted on lightweight Lotus alloy wheels. The handling is simply sublime as expected from a seven-time Formula 1 Constructors’ World Champion. This Exige S is a sparingly driven example with only 1,663 miles on the odometer, comes with a Clean CarFax and with its featherweight and prodigious power is sure to thrill.
