Showing 1,079 miles on its odometer, this 25th Anniversary Lamborghini Countach is powered by the venerable 5.2L/455 HP quad-cam V-12 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in black, the body is fitted with the lower side strakes, front air dam and upper vents, all unique to the 25th Anniversary Countach. It’s also affixed with a rear wing to further enhance high-speed stability, and, of course, the scissor-style opening doors the Countach made famous. The black interior matches the exterior, and lends an overall noir vibe the Countach wears well. Occupants will appreciate the refined bucket seats (again, unique to the Anniversary Countach) and leather upholstery.

Rolling on Pirelli tires with silver OZ Racing wheels that were also exclusive to the 25th Anniversary Countach, the overall look is remarkably outrageous and a fabulous swan song for the famous supercar. When it was introduced for 1974, the Lamborghini Countach had big shoes to fill, replacing the Miura, a car often credited as being the world’s first supercar. Working with chief engineer Paolo Stanzani, assistant engineer Massimo Parenti, designer Marcello Gandini of Bertone and test driver Bob Wallace, Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to create not only a successor to the Miura but a car that would be quicker, faster, better handling and more stable in all fronts.

Like the Miura, the new car would feature ground-breaking engineering advancements and improve on elements the company learned from the Miura. The prototype, called LP500, made its public debut at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, where it created more than a splash; it absolutely left people flabbergasted. With three additional years of development, the Countach was introduced to the market in 1974 as the LP400 with a 3.9L/370 HP V-12, a modified version of an engine that largely dated back to 1963 and was designed by Giotto Bizzarrini.

The Countach weathered many storms within Lamborghini and spanned production through 1989, at which point it celebrated the company’s 25th Anniversary and made way for the new Diablo of 1990.
