Of all carmakers, Jaguar possesses one of the world’s richest and most successful motorsports legacies including five overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1950s alone. The E-Type of 1961-1974 was an instant success, and while sold without racing pretensions it carried the Jaguar banner quite successfully in battle against Ferrari and Aston Martin during the early 1960s nonetheless. It also was immensely successful on the road and remains an unqualified sporting milestone today. Fast-forward to the 2010s and, under new ownership, Jaguar embarked on renewed model development, its F-Type dawning as a credible modern successor to the beloved E-Type.
Featuring lithe, athletic styling, an aluminum body and a huge, supercar-worthy performance envelope, the F-Type is a stylistic and technical tour de force and modern Jaguar classic, exemplified by this high-specification R convertible from 2019. Power and performance are delivered by a supercharged 5.0L/550 HP V-8 engine rated at 502 lb-ft of torque and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Handling the power is all-wheel drive, electric power-assisted steering, upgraded brakes with colored calipers and Jaguar’s DriveControl system with selectable drive modes.
Amenities include Navigation, performance seats, a 10-inch touch screen and an optional Meridian sound system. Finishing touches include a deployable rear spoiler and Auto Sports exhaust system.
