This eye-catching 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 lives up to its legendary name with the highest performance ever in a production Ford automobile and stunningly aggressive styling lit with rare factory Grabber Lime paint. Reviving the nameplate last seen in 2014, the 2020 GT500 makes the most of the chassis upgrades found in the GT350 and ups the ante with the mighty Ford Predator V-8 engine, a hand-built, all-aluminum 5.2L powerplant incorporating double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, port fuel injection and a 2.65L Eaton supercharger.
While it features a conventional cross-plane crankshaft, the Predator V-8 still revs into the outer limits, making 760 HP at 7,300 RPM and 625 lb-ft of torque at 5,000. Those figures translate into a 3.4-second dash to 60 MPH and a regulated 180 MPH top speed, with significant contributions coming from a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and 3.73:1 Torsen rear differential. Launch control and line-lock are included to answer any drag strip challenges, but the GT500 also excels on the road course thanks to its sophisticated front strut/rear multilink independent suspension, Magneride damping system, electronic power-assisted steering and vented Brembo disc brakes sporting red-painted calipers.
As if all that wasn’t enough for memorable motoring, this 2020 GT500 also adds the suite of go-fast extras that comprise the optional Carbon Fiber Track Pack, an $18,000 package that includes 20-inch exposed carbon-fiber wheels with Michelin tires, an exposed carbon-fiber GT4 rear wing, wheel locks, an exposed carbon-fiber instrument panel, splitter wickers, rear-seat delete and leather-trimmed Recaro seats.
The contrasting Ebony interior offers a comprehensive array of features that includes white accents, dual-zone climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise control, a tilt-telescopic steering column, AM/FM sound with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SiriusXM radio and a Sync3 8-inch touch-screen display.
