Among the new options for the 3rd gen GT500 was the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, an $18,500 option that elevates the GT500's capabilities with lightweight 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, a carbon fiber rear wing, and a rear-seat delete to reduce weight. The package also includes adjustable strut top mounts and a splitter wickers kit for enhanced aerodynamics and handling.
THE CAR OFFERED
The original purchaser of this GT500 must have arrived at Alton Blakey Ford in Somerset, Kentucky with a mission – to order the highest performance Mustang available. Starting with an optional color of Twister Orange, the box for the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack was ticked. Not stopping there, $10,000 more was spent on the painted over-the-top black stipes and $3,000 more for the Technology Package. All in all, according to the original window sticker, the options added 50% to the list price with the final MSRP just crossing the ton at $106,485.
Shipped to the dealer in October of 2021, the first owner would retain the car for nearly a year before coming into the present collection. Having only 343 miles when acquired in September of 2021, four years hence just over 100 additional miles have been added with a mere 451 miles from new showing on the odometer at the time of cataloging.
Practically showroom fresh, this barely driven GT500 is a capstone for any modern Shelby collector.
