This 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R Edition Convertible is one of just 1,000 produced to commemorate Corvette’s sensational 2020 IMSA GTLM Championship winning season—the first season campaigning the new midengine Corvette C8.R race car.
Powered by Corvette’s LS2 6.2L/495 HP V-8 engine mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the C8.R Edition was offered as a separate equipment package on Corvettes equipped with the 3LT Preferred Equipment Group, which builds on the 2LT option package—a Bose Performance Series stereo sound system, wireless phone charging and Wi-Fi hotspot, front and rear HD cameras, heated and ventilated power-operated Competition Sport bucket seats with lumbar and bolster adjustments, heated sueded microfiber steering wheel, advanced anti-theft system, head-up display and front lift system with adjustable ride height memory—and adds premium Napa leather upholstery with extended surface coverage, microfiber upper interior trim and a navigation system that includes Corvette’s innovative track-focused performance data and video recorder.
The Z51 Performance Package was another significant part of the C8.R mix. Identified externally by a unique Carbon Flash front splitter, dealer-installed black composite rocker extensions and a chassis-mounted carbon fiber spoiler designed by C7 Carbon, the Z51 spec includes upgraded performance disc brakes with yellow-painted calipers, more track-focused suspension, special exhaust, 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear performance tires on 19- and 20-inch five-Trident spoke, black-painted aluminum wheels and a shorter axle ratio with Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD).
This C8.R convertible is finished in the Hypersonic Gray Metallic paint and Edge Yellow racing stripes worn by the No. 4 2020 Corvette C8.R driven by Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fassler. It features a Sky Cool Gray interior with Strike Yellow accents and carbon fiber interior trim including on the door plates, cluster surround and console.
