The Buick Gran Sport was launched in 1964 as Buick's answer to the Pontiac GTO. By 1968 it was on its second-generation body style that would carry it through 1972, and the end of the mainstream muscle car era. Purchased new in Cherry Valley, IL, and put into service December 5, 1967, this is one of 2,454 Buick GS 400 convertibles produced in 1968. This GS was kept in the same family from the mid-1970s until its current owner purchased it in 2009. An extensive drivetrain refurbishment was completed in 1987, which included reconditioning of the engine, transmission and differential.

Also, an extensive cosmetic restoration was performed in 2008, which included stripping the factory paint and repainting it in the original Burnished Saddle color. Unique to this GS 400, research and documentation show this car to have been equipped with the Buick 430ci Wildcat engine, which is coupled to an automatic transmission. This upgraded the performance output to 360hp and 475 ft/lbs of torque. Included are detailed service history receipts and documentation from the family owning it from the mid-70s and a statement from the Buick Club of America regarding the 430 Wildcat engine. Also included is the original warranty booklet with the Protect-O-Plate still attached.
