Having spent its life in Arizona, this car retains its all-original sheet metal. The Flint, MI, plant was designated as the place where the highest-performance Buicks would be built for the 1969 model. During the third week of September, this one came to life. Of the 1,176 built, just a small percentage were 4-speeds. The engine (Cast #1383790, Cast Date F-8) was transferred on calendar day 267, along with the M-21 close-ratio Muncie and the performance rear axle, all with corresponding dates and codes.
The data tag on the cowl identifies #52 as Buick's Signal Red (a beautiful dark version of red on the 1969 model only), #185 as Pearl White interior with bucket seats, and 'A,' indicating a black convertible top. Buick's cool dual-induction system enhances the 340hp 400 big block with a high-performance camshaft, fast-flow fuel pump, special calibrated quardo-jet, high-pressure lubrication system and 10:25-to-1 compression. It was meticulously rebuilt with all performance parts to achieve the original expectations as when built new.
It is backed with a Hurst shift linkage, 11' super-duty clutch, 3:64 posi-traction performance rear axle gears, Road Hugger handling suspension package with wide ovals, extra-heavy-duty radiator, disc brakes and distinctively tuned dual exhaust. This Buick is also equipped numerous comfort and convenience options and accessories, including power steering, power brakes, power top, Super Sport chrome wheels, Rally steering wheel, floor console, consolette shift plate with built-in tachometer, courtesy lamp package throughout, electric clock with quartz movement, Soft Ray tinted date-coded glass, raised white letter wide ovals, AM/FM and factory air conditioning.
It has had a comprehensive professional off-frame rotisserie restoration to the highest degree. The attention to detail is evident. The overall fit and finish is impeccable.
