Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback, 1969

Chassis No.: 9F02Z159781 • Exterior: Maroon • Interior: Black • Body: Fastback • KK No. 1393, the 193rd Boss 429 Mustang produced • Boss 429 engine stroked to 521 CI • 4-speed transmission • 3.91 Traction-lok differential • Panhard bar and traction bars • Mustang II front suspension • Rack and pinion steering • Front disc brakes • Marti Report • Two shipping invoices • Royal Maroon with Black interior This rare 1969 Boss 429 Mustang may look stock on the outside but it has been updated in a number of areas for improved performance, starting with the hemi-head Boss 429 engine that has been stroked to 521 CI and topped by an aftermarket aluminum intake with dual-quad induction. Carrying KK No. 1393 as the 193rd Boss 429 Mustang produced, the Royal Maroon Fastback is also equipped with a Mustang II front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, rear panhard bar and traction bars. External additions include the rear-window slats, rear spoiler, driving lights behind the grille and Goodyear Eagle GT tires, while a wood-rim steering wheel has been added to the black Deluxe interior. Like all Boss 429s, this one is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, 9-inch rear end with 3.91 gears in a Traction-Lok differential, front disc brakes and trunk-mounted battery. Ford built the Boss 429 for two model years, 1969-70, to legalize the race-inspired engine for NASCAR competition. Only 849 were built for 1969. From the factory, the Boss 429 was the ultimate Mustang muscle car. Because the massive aluminum-head big-block was too wide for the Mustang’s engine compartment, the final build was farmed out to Ford’s contracted performance shop, Kar Kraft, where the engine was lowered into place between modified shock towers. All came with Competition Suspension and staggered rear shocks to control wheel hop during hard acceleration. Compared to other muscle cars of the late 1960s, the Boss 429 exterior was subtle with only a manually operated hood scoop, front chin spoiler, 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels and small front-fender decals setting it apart from regular Mustang Fastbacks. Every Boss 429 received a unique decal on the driver’s door with its “KK NASCAR 429” serial number. KK No. 1393 comes with a Marti Report and two shipping invoices. https://www.mecum.com/lots/336544/1969-ford-mustang-boss-429-fastback/

Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback, 1970

Chassis No.: 0F02G124854 • Exterior: Green • Interior: Black • Body: Fastback • Sold new at Wade Ford Sales, Inc. in Greenville, Illinois • Nut and bolt rotisserie restoration completed in 2017 • Refinished in original code G Medium Lime Metallic using PPG base/clear paint • 302/290 CI V-8 engine bored .030 over • TRW domed pistons • Ceramic-coated long tube headers • Close ratio 4-speed transmission • 3.91 Traction-Lok differential • Power steering • Power brakes • Black Corinthian vinyl upholstery • Rear deck spoiler • Shaker hood • Hurst T-handle shifter • Magnum 500 wheels • Goodyear Polyglas GT tires • Marti Report and Eminger shipper • Binder of photos including important casting numbers • Service receipts • Boss 302 Registry • Boss facts and features booklet Refinished in its original Medium Lime Metallic using PPG base and clear coat, this 1970 Boss 302 looks ready for street battles with Z28 Camaros and T/A Challengers. Adding to the original look are the optional 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels shod with white-letter Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Other factory-optional equipment includes the popular rear-window slats, rear-deck spoiler, functional Shaker hood scoop, power steering and brakes, and 3.91 rear gears in a Traction-Lok differential. The black interior provides a floor console, clock and wood-grain trim. Offered to the public during 1969-70 to homologate its high-revving small-block engine, spoilers and other competition components, the Boss 302 Mustang comes with a legitimate racing pedigree thanks to its 1970 Trans Am championship, as won by car builder Bud Moore with drivers Parnelli Jones and George Follmer. The production street car was powered by the Boss 302 engine, a special 290 HP combination of a heavy-duty 302 CI Windsor short-block and large-port 351 Cleveland cylinder heads. The engine was also equipped with a solid-lifter camshaft, dual-point distributor and Holley 780 CFM 4-barrel carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold. The mandatory drivetrain included a heavy-duty 4-speed manual transmission and Ford’s beefy 9-inch rear end with nodular “N-case” differential housing and 31-spline axles. The SportsRoof-only 1970 Boss package also added front disc brakes, front chin spoiler, Hurst shifter, Competition Suspension with 15-inch wheels and performance tires, staggered rear shocks to dampen wheel hop during hard acceleration, and wild graphics contributed by Ford designer Larry Shinoda—a matte black hood stripe, reflective side stripes running the length of the body, and blacked-out trunk lid and rear panel. Ford produced only 7,014 Boss 302s for 1970, and of those, just 752 were painted in Medium Lime Metallic, just like this example. https://www.mecum.com/lots/336671/1970-ford-mustang-boss-302-fastback/
