    Subaru Impreza P1, 2001

Chassis No.: JF1GM8KDGYG003360 Registration: P1 KSN • Number 827 of only 1,000 UK-supplied, right hand drive examples • Excellent service history with fully stamped service book • Dry-stored as part of a private collection Built at Subaru's Fuji Heavy Industries plant in Japan and perfected in the UK by rally 'royalty', Prodrive, the Impreza P1 was always destined to become a hugely desirable modern classic. Produced in a limited run of just 1,000 cars, all finished in the iconic Sonic Blue, the P1 was based on the WRX Sti Type R and comprehensively re-engineered for European roads. Subaru had a single, uncompromising goal when developing the P1, to create an Impreza capable of outperforming Mitsubishi’s formidable Lancer Evolution VI. In 1997, Prodrive launched the two-door Subaru Impreza World Rally Car (WRC) and won the Manufacturer's Title in its inaugural season. The WRC97 thrilled motorsport fans the world over and gave birth to iconic road-going versions. Prodrive engineers fitted the anti-roll bars from the European-specification Impreza Turbo, along with the firmer springs and shock absorbers, resulting in a superior suspension. Power came from a revised version of Subaru’s legendary rally-bred 2.0 litre turbocharged flat-four engine featuring recalibrated electronics/engine management and producing an impressive 280bhp, a substanital 69bhp increase over the standard Impreza Turbo. Completing the package is ABS braking, anthracite OZ Racing alloy wheels, and distinctive bodywork styled by Peter Stevens, designer of the McLaren F1. A deeper front spoiler, prominent rear wing, coloured-coded mirrors, door handles, and side skirts give the P1 unmistakable rally-inspired stance. Driving visibility is enhanced by the iconic Hella 90mm driving lamps, again lifted directly from the World Rally Car. A very exciting discovery, this Impreza is number 827 of 1,000 UK-supplied, right hand drive examples. It was first registered on 5th September 2001, having been supplied new by Subaru main agent, Donalds Garage Peterborough. The car’s maintenance record is excellent, boasting a complete service history with all the stamps present in the original service book. Recent works carried out in November 2025 at 72,410 miles totalling £2,014 includes the oil filter, fuel pump and filter, rear differential seal outer left and right, rear differential oil and drain plugs, air flow sensor and throttle gasket, idle control valve and front anti roll bar links. Stored in a temperature-controlled garage and kept well away from salted roads and adverse weather, this example remains in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. Finding an Impreza P1 of any standard has become increasingly difficult in today’s market and discovering one with such outstanding provenance, low ownership and a complete service history is exceptionally rare. With Japanese performance icons continuing to soar in value, his P1 represents an unrepeatable opportunity for the discerning collector, enthusiast, or marque purist. Currently forming part of a private collection, the car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file including the V5 registration document, original dealer book pack, service book with 15 stamps, a folder of supporting invoices and the rare Prodrive-tailored carpet mats. Subaru Impreza Turbo AWD (GC8), 2000

Chassis No.: JF1GC8KD3YG055036 Registration: X629 SHH • Only one former keeper • Totally standard • Impeccably presented Launched in Japan with the WRX badge, the turbocharged Impreza boasted a power output of some 240bhp with official UK sales beginning in late 1994, however, to conform to UK regulations, the engine was re-tuned to 208bhp and the car was badged as the Impreza 2000 Turbo AWD. This was a car that changed the motoring public's perception of affordable performance offering Escort Cosworth-beating performance for just under £18,000 - £8,000 less than the Ford resulting in many enthusiasts migrating from one 'Blue Oval' to another. The Impreza was available as a four-door saloon or five-door hatchback/station wagon, however, Subaru chose to continue their longstanding use of the the four-cam EJ20 boxer engine with the option of permanent four-wheel drive. According to Subaru, this configuration minimised body-roll due to the lower centre of gravity compared with offset engines in most other vehicles. The boxer design was well balanced and provided good vibration mitigation with the movement of each piston being largely countered by a piston in the opposing cylinder bank, eliminating the need for a counter-weighted rotating crankshaft (harmonic balancer). Torque steer is also minimised with this type of powertrain layout since the front drive shafts are of equal length and weight. First registered on 15th September 2000, this unique Impreza was supplied in Mica Metallic Red from Stan Palmer Subaru in Carlisle to a no doubt very excited Mr. Philip Hall. Mr. Hall must have used the car as a weekend toy rather than a daily driver, as over the next 23 years of ownership by the time of sale, it had only covered just over 36,000 miles. Never altered from its factory specification, this car presents in incredible time warp condition and boasts a set of rare factory optioned 17” Brescia alloy wheels, this striking example wouldn’t be out of place in a museum. A comprehensive service history accompanies the car with a service book showing 11 stamps and a meticulous record showing when every cambelt change was carried out, as well as the date and mileage at every service. The original Subaru bookpack is also supplied, as well as various MoT test certificates, invoices and old tax discs. Bought by the vendor having received a glowing inspection report on the car, a lack of recent use has triggered the decision to sell. Reported by the vendor to run and drive extremely well and coming with a MoT test certificate which was issued in September. To find a low mileage and low ownership Impreza, especially one that hasn’t been modified is rare indeed and an opportunity not to be missed. This isn’t something that would come to market very often. Consigned by Will Penrose https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=18512&au=96
