    Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, 1997

Chassis No.: WP0DA2997VS385256 • Engine: Other • Transmission: Manual • Exterior: Arena Red Metallic • Interior: Gray • 3.6L air-cooled flat 6-cylinder engine • 6-speed manual gearbox • Speedline Targa alloy wheels • Arena Red Metallic exterior • Power-operated glass roof panel • Gray leather interior • Power-adjustable front seats • Air conditioning • Becker-Porsche CDR-210 AM/FM/CD stereo The 993 Targa is an exemplary piece of industrial design. Best described as a “greenhouse” roof that offers panoramic views both overhead and laterally, the Targa top on the 993 is essentially a retractable sliding glass system. To build the 993 Targa, Porsche used the shell of their cabriolet and fitted an innovative glass enclosure in lieu of the convertible soft top. To add structural rigidity, an overhead B pillar was placed as roll-over protection as well as the superstructure for the sliding roof panel. The 993 generation of Porsche also featured an advanced multi-link rear suspension fitted to a light alloy subframe. Dubbed the “Weissach axle,” the new suspension was of multi-link coil spring and wishbone design, which vastly improved the handling and ride comfort characteristics of the 993/911. This is a special car—one of a very few 993 Targa cars produced from the very last generation of the air-cooled 911, and one of only 567 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa cars imported into North America (United States and Canada). It’s equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, making it even rarer since it is believed that roughly 40% of the Targa allotment for that model year were of Tiptronic automatic specification—although exact numbers can neither confirm nor deny this. Finished in the signature color of Arena Red Metallic, the car wears the appropriate Speedline wheels exclusive to the Targa model and the iconic glass roof panel. The gray leather interior is fully optioned with air conditioning, power-adjustable front seats, the power sliding roof panel, power mirrors, power door locks, power windows and a Becker Porsche CDR-210 AM/FM/CD stereo. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1175454/1997-porsche-911-carrera-targa

    Porsche 911 Carrera 2, 1997

Chassis No.: WP0AA2990VS321966 $110,000 | High bid • Odometer: 42,923 miles • Engine: Other • Transmission: Manual • Exterior: Arctic Silver • Interior: Black • Body: Coupe • Highly original condition • Odometer reads 42,923 miles • Detailed and serviced with fluids drained and flushed, included the clutch cylinder • Air conditioning serviced and functional • 3.6L SOHC flat 6-cylinder engine rated at 282 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque • 6-speed manual transmission • Sunroof • Automatic speed control • Factory CDR-210 audio system • 4-wheel disc brakes with Black Porsche script calipers • 17-inch 5-spoke wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps • Clean CarFax • Garage kept The 993 generation of the legendary Porsche 911 hit the scene in 1994 as a replacement for the previous 964 generation. While the design was largely similar, the 993 features a more swept-back and aerodynamic appearance, with the headlights of the 964 being more integrated into the body and the rear haunches taking on a smoother look. According to Porsche, every part of the 964 was designed from scratch, including the engine, with only 20% of the parts being carried over. The car sat on a new light-alloy rear subframe with a new multi-link coil springs and wishbone rear suspension, removing the previous generation’s lift-off oversteer. Mechanically, the 993 was the first 911 to offer a standard 6-speed manual transmission, and it carried on the choice between a rear- and all-wheel drive powertrain. The regular Carrera coupe and cabriolet variants were powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6L SOHC flat 6-cylinder engine, producing 282 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque through a newly developed dual-flow exhaust. This particular 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 is the rear-wheel drive variant and is finished in Arctic Silver with a contrasting black interior. Thanks to its meticulous previous ownership, it remains in highly original condition and boasts only 42,918 miles on the odometer. Some recent service items include a detail, fluid flush, including the clutch cylinder, and a refurbishment of the air conditioning system. Some of this 911’s noteworthy features that make it an especially desirable example include a sunroof, factory green-tinted glass, automatic speed control, the factory CDR-210 audio system, 4-wheel disc brakes with black Porsche-script calipers, projector headlights with washers, an eight-way power driver’s seat, four-war power passenger seat and 17-inch five-spoke wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. Classic Porsches will forever hold a spot in enthusiasts’ driveways, and this garage-kept 911 is an impressive example of its generation, given its low mileage and its well-maintained condition. The new owner will also receive the car’s original floor mats as part of the purchase. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1154281/1997-porsche-911-carrera-2/
