    Chrysler 300l Convertible, 1965

Chassis No.: C453208306 • Exterior: Silver • Interior: Blue • Body: Convertible • The final year for the Chrysler Letter Cars • 413/360 HP V-8 engine • 4-barrel carburetor • Torqueflite automatic transmission • Power steering • Power brakes • Finished in Silver with Blue leather interior • Power convertible top • Power windows • Chrome wire wheels • Wide Whitewall tires Considered to be one of the grandfathers of the muscle car, Chrysler’s 300 “Letter Series” of performance-luxury sedans spanned 12 years of production and 10 letters (the 1955 C-300 can retrospectively be considered the “300A,” there was no “I” as to not be confused with the numeral “1,” and the 1970 was a Hurst model). Every letter car year was uniquely different, either by design or engine tuning. The early Virgil Exner-designed 300s epitomized the use of tail fins, bold nose designs and sweeping lines, the later models featuring crisp lines and a linear motif courtesy of Exner’s successor as head of Chrysler Design, Elwood Engel. The 1965 300L was the eleventh and final model in the traditional letter series, and the “L” is a highly regarded and prized classic. This “C45” 1965 Chrysler 300L Convertible is one of only 440 units produced in 1965, and it comes finished in silver with red beltline stripes and fender skirts. Its power is derived by a 413/360 HP V-8 with dual exhaust and mated to a TorqueFlite automatic gearbox. Rolling on chrome wire wheels shod in wide whitewall tires, the car features power steering and power brakes, which help keep the L on the straight and narrow. Dropping the electrically operated convertible top reveals the blue leather interior, which was designed to evoke the feeling of a living room and features dual plush bucket seats separated by a full-length center console (with built-in vacuum gauge), as well as a full back bench with plenty of legroom. Additional options include power windows, a passenger side rearview mirror and a Golden Tone AM radio with a rear seat speaker. https://www.mecum.com/lots/422852/1965-chrysler-300l-convertible/
