After a year with a BMW 3 Series, I switched to a Mercedes-AMG C 43 and want to share my impressions. This is one of those cars that perfectly suits the pace of life in Dubai.
Performance and handling With a 3.0-liter engine producing 390 hp, this car is made for our roads. It feels right at home on Sheikh Zayed Road—its 0–100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds makes overtaking other cars effortless. But the real highlight is the intelligent 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, which provides confident grip even on the rare rainy days.
City comfort Despite its sporty character, it’s a perfectly civilized car in Comfort mode. Traffic on Al Khail Road is easy to bear, thanks to the good sound insulation and high-quality Burmester sound system, which create a pleasant atmosphere. The air conditioning cools the cabin in no time, and the ventilated seats are a lifesaver during the summer months.
Parking and dimensions Its size is ideal for Dubai—compact enough for the tight parking spaces at Dubai Mall, yet spacious inside. The 360-degree cameras and parking sensors make it easy to park in any conditions.
Fuel economy With sensible driving, fuel consumption is around 11–12 L/100 km in the city. Given our petrol prices, that’s quite reasonable. Insurance costs around 8,000 dirhams a year—more than for regular sedans, but less than for full-fledged AMG models.
What I especially love
- The perfect blend of comfort and sporty character
- High-quality interior materials
- Striking but not overly aggressive design
- Reliability—no problems over the past year
Drawbacks
- The suspension is a little stiff in Sport modes
- High servicing costs at an authorized dealer
- Expensive genuine parts
Who it’s for This car is ideal for anyone who wants AMG’s sporty character without excessive stiffness or sacrificing practicality. It’s a great choice for active city driving and occasional track days at Dubai Autodrome.
Prices start at 300,000 dirhams for a well-equipped version. If you’re looking for driving excitement without sacrificing comfort, it’s an excellent choice for Dubai.
