  • Transmission: Manual
  • Body Colour: Powder Blue

Beautifully restored in Powder Blue by a senior Prodrive engineer with top-quality components and subtle upgrades for reliability and enjoyable touring.

The TR3A was Triumph’s definitive 1950s roadster – a rugged, charismatic sports car offering lively performance from its torquey 2-litre four-cylinder engine and timeless open-top design. It was never officially badged as a TR3A but was, in fact, a minor revision of the TR3, with updates including a new wide grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot and a full toolkit. The example you see here was imported from California in 2011 by Prodrive senior engineer, Richard Thompson, who heads their Prodrive Legends operation and undertook a comprehensive body-off restoration to an exceptional standard.

The chassis was stripped, blasted and repainted, while the body was refurbished and repainted in its original Powder Blue by Normandale Bodyworks of Daventry. Mechanical components were comprehensively rebuilt including the engine, gearbox, rear axle and braking system. Fitted with a new wiring loom and the instruments and dash assembly were fully refurbished. Additional restoration included a complete re-trim in blue leather, new brightwork, a stainless steel exhaust system, chrome wire wheels with new tyres, new windscreen, soft top and tonneau cover. Sensibly upgraded for usability with an alternator, electric cooling fan, steering rack conversion, lap belts and a wood-rim steering wheel.

Accompanied by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and offered from ten years long term ownership. Exceptional left-hand drive examples of the TR3A are rarely offered this side of the pond and this example presents an excellent opportunity for those perhaps looking to tour the Continent in classic fashion in a fully rebuilt late 1950s British roadster.
