The ubiquitous Impreza played a significant part in the history of Subaru and rallying, with the Impreza WRX playing a crucial role in the manufacturer's success in the World Rally Championship during the 1990s. Distinguishing it from a standard Impreza, the 1993 WRX features the iconic rally-inspired look with wide arches, aggressive front and rear bumpers and a prominent rear spoiler. Equipped with a turbocharged 2-litre boxer engine, the WRX delivers strong performance and a distinctive low centre of gravity, providing a competitive edge in the WRC. The WRX was not offered in the UK-market until 1994, however this 1993 Japanese home-market example was imported here in 1999.
Surprisingly, it was driven for less than a year on UK roads and then placed into storage, suggesting that the indicated mileage of just over 19,000 may well be correct. A perhaps unrepeatable prospect for someone looking to recommission an early example of Subaru’s famous WRX.
