This 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo hails from the model’s second generation, introduced in 1990 with some significant power improvements over the outgoing turbocharged 930. The new car still featured the legendary 3.3L Hans Mezger-designed flat-6 engine, but it now made 320 HP (up from 282) thanks to an enlarged intercooler and an enlarged K27 turbocharger. However, the most notable improvement over its predecessor was the car’s newly introduced coil spring suspension that replaced the outgoing torsion bar arrangement, making for a quantum leap in cornering ability and driveability. Porsche also increased the contact patch with 17-inch Speedline alloy wheels mounted on 255/40R17 tires in the rear.
The car delivered amazing performance, with a top speed of 168 MPH and an acceleration time of just 4.4 seconds from 0-60 MPH. These cars were extremely desirable in their day and continue to be sought after by automotive enthusiasts. This Porsche 911 Turbo presents beautifully in the iconic color of Guards Red. One of just 289 examples imported into the United States for model year 1992, the car is factory correct in accordance with its Porsche build sheet. It wears a full set of proper staggered Speedline three-piece wheels mounted on low aspect ratio radial tires, and a fixed “Whale Tail” rear spoiler.
The interior is richly appointed in Cashmere Beige supple full leather, with power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, a power-operated sunroof and an Alpine-Porsche CD-2 AM/FM/CD radio.
