Please note that due to California emissions, this vehicle must be sold to a dealer or out-of-state resident.

Since its 2010 introduction, the GT2 RS moniker has come to signify the most extreme roadgoing interpretation of the iconic Porsche 911. Fittingly, then, the 991-generation GT2 RS was the most powerful production model in 911 history when it launched in 2017.

The GT2 RS’ 3.8-liter flat-six engine, fed by two turbochargers, sends 700 horsepower to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK gearbox. With its astonishing acceleration—sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds—and a top speed of 211 mph, Porsche test driver Lars Kern set the production-car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on 20 September 2017 in a GT2 RS. The record-setting car was equipped with the Weissach Package, whose carbon fiber roof panel, anti-roll bars, front trunk lid, and other components, along with lightweight magnesium wheels shave around 40 pounds, bringing total curb weight to just 3,241 pounds.

Even with this uncompromising focus on performance, Porsche still offered clients a tremendous amount of latitude to make their car truly their own via options and special-order features. This noteworthy 2018 911 GT2 RS is a wonderful example of what happens when knowledgeable enthusiasts start filling out the order sheets.

Ordered new by John and Charlene Truban, proprietors of Porsche and exotic car specialist Truban Motor Company of Winchester, Virginia, this GT2 RS is finished in the dazzling, paint-to-sample metallic color of Zanzibar Red over a specially ordered Cognac and Black interior. Importantly, the Trubans opted for the Weissach package (at a cost of $18,000) as well as the lightweight magnesium wheels ($13,000).

Further interior upholstery features and Special Wishes options added over $30,000 to the build. This includes tailoring by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to achieve the two-tone Cognac and Black interior with subtle black piping and deviated stitching, as well as the steering column casing in leather, the dashboard trim package in leather, Alcantara sun visors and seatbelt outlet trims, and illuminated door sill guards in carbon fiber. Aluminum pedals and footrest, instrument and Sport Chrono stopwatch dials in white, the Chrono Package, and a BOSE surround sound system complete the interior.

Correspondence with Porsche on file outlines the order process for this special car, and an accompanying window sticker indicates a $378,855 total price (including Porsche Experience Center Delivery in Atlanta, Georgia).

Truban Motor Company took delivery of their new GT2 RS in January 2019, with Porsche of Tysons Corner in Vienna, Virginia, serving as the dealer of record. As detailed in a cover story of the Porsche Club of America Potomac Region magazine,

der Vorgänger

, the 911 was soon after unveiled in festivities attended by friends and fellow Porsche enthusiasts.

Although the temptation to drive the car following the celebration must have been great, it was instead maintained as a showpiece. It remains today exactly as delivered: Incredibly, at the time of cataloguing, the car displayed just 16 miles. In fact, this Porsche has never been permanently registered or titled, and it has remained on its original Porsche Certificate of Origin ever since its completion.

Thus, this Zanzibar Red GT2 RS affords its next caretaker an extremely rare opportunity: To become the first titled owner of one of the most extreme roadgoing Porsche 911s built to date. Whether you then opt to immediately drive it to the nearest track and explore its record-setting performance capability, or to continue its preservation as a piece of Porsche 911 history, is up to you to decide.
