Presenting in highly original condition, this 2005 Pontiac GTO showed just 1,953 miles on the odometer at the time of consignment. Finished in Cyclone Gray, only 1,331 would wear the color in 2005, and only 419 of those would have the automatic transmission and the 17-inch wheels like this one. Powered by the 6.0L/400 HP LS2 V-8 engine, the car is fitted with a black leather interior with four bucket seats, a center console, a Blaupunkt stereo system, power windows, power locks, power mirrors and power-adjustable front seats. Complete with a clean CarFax, this 2005 GTO presents largely in as-new condition. For 2004, Pontiac reintroduced the GTO.
Made in Australia by GM subsidiary Holden, the GTO was a Holden Monaro with a revised nose, tail and lefthand drive. Its righthand drive lineage is somewhat apparent by the positioning of the handbrake lever, on the right of the console, and the stereo volume knob, on the right side of the headset face. But other than that, the Monaro did well as a GTO. Initially offered with the 5.7L/350 HP LS1 V-8, for 2005 and 2006, the GTO was equipped with the 6.0L/400 HP LS2. Both were more than adequate to move the two-door coupe swiftly from a standstill on to upwards of 160 MPH.
Slightly misunderstood by a market showing more interest in SUVs, hybrids and EVs, and carrying an MSRP north of $32,000, the GTO didn’t sell all that well—in total, for 2004, 2005 and 2006, just 40,757 GTOs were sold. The 2005 model year showed the lowest production, with 11,069 sold.
