Gale Banks Twin Turbo 200mph Car & Driver magazine cover featured June, 1984. Certainly one of the rarest cars of its kind. This is a car that Car & Driver magazine set out to build to reach the elusive 200mph barrier. With the help of Gale Banks twin-turbo charged 5.7L V8 making 611hp, a twin-plate Borg & Beck clutch developed for Oldsmobile's drag racing program, Doug Nash 5-speed transmission, specially balanced driveshaft, Ford 9" 2.47:1 rear end custom fitted to the TA chassis, Goodyear Eagle VR50 tires, Pontiac's Areo Kit and a special Acme Acrylic enamel in standard red paint this Trans Am was able to high 200mph.
The car is in outstanding condition, by years of inside protected storage. The car is as clean underneath as it is on top. Even with the tall rear end, it still goes 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Featured in Car & Driver in June 1984, original Gale Banks production, copy of letter of authenticity from Gale Banks, road tested originally at 204mph, twin turbocharged, 611hp 5.7 Liter race engine, power brakes, power windows, power steering and air conditioning.
