This has over $90,000 invested in the restoration with receipts from builder. With stock appearance, the updated date-correct YS 400ci V8 affords a raised Edelbrock intake manifold, with an open air cleaner and a long-branch exhaust. It is also equipped with optional hood tachometer, and custom wood grain dash and steering wheels. It underwent a complete restoration in 2005: It is performance modified with stock appearance, stripped down to bare metal and high-quality paintwork. A $15,000+ paint job returned it to the original Matador Red with three coats of single-stage clear coat.
The replacement YS code 400 engine was rebuilt, employing its original crankshaft and forged rods and pistons, modified 800 cfm quad jet-built carburetor and an Edelbrock performance rpm ceramic-coated intake manifold. It also has an X-type crossover Walker Dynomax muffler, TH400 transmission with optional 2,400 rpm stall TCI converter and the suspension was upgraded to Addco 1.25 front anti-roll bar with drop spindles. It also features Easton-Detroit springs with 30lb rating, upgraded KYB air shocks on all corners of car, 11' front discs and 9.5' rear drums with oversized Pontiac 15x7', Pontiac Rally wheels with 225/60R15 in the rear.
Awards include 2013 winner at the Elliot Museum car event, Best in Class and Best Paint; 2015 winner at the Winter Park Concours d' Elegance, Gold Excellence in Class award in the muscle car category; and cover story in Hemmings Classic Car magazine, March 2014 edition. It also won the Excellence in Class award in the Muscle Car Class at the 2016 Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance. The Tiffany crystal award will go with the car.
