As the only station wagon that was available with “Wide-Track,” your Pontiac Safari wagon was promised to give the consumer a steadier ride and firmer control. The Safari was considered a glamorous and beautiful interpretation of the first Pontiac station wagon of the ‘60s. With its exclusive “Wide-Track Wheel Design” it handled its size in a manner all its own. Traveling light or under full load, you were at one with the road, unconscious to sway on the curves and turns, and impervious to crosswinds. It was touted as being the pinnacle of perfection in the world of station wagon handling characteristics.

Both six-passenger and nine-passenger versions were offered; unfortunately, we have not been apprised of which version is being offered. The nine-passenger offering has the desirable third seat to increase the passenger capacity.

Finished in Sierra Copper, this Catalina series Safari (the Safari was available in the Bonneville series too) is a one-family car from new with one repaint along the way. It is reported to have been garaged its entire existence and remains in very good, primarily original condition. It is driven by the 389-cid V-8 engine that is paired with an automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes dual side view mirrors, two-tone paint, power brakes, power steering, radio and two-tone interior. It is accompanied by the original California registration, Missouri and Indiana titles and many old photographs.
