Few luxury cars of the 1950s had the regal bearing of the Packard Caribbean, especially the final version offered in 1955-1956. Designed by Dick Teague, this 1956 Packard Caribbean convertible is one of only 276 produced in Packard’s final year before its takeover by Studebaker. One of the most lavish Packards ever, this Caribbean convertible is powered by Packard’s 374/310 HP V-8 and Twin Ultramatic transmission, both rebuilt and driven fewer than 2,000 miles. Contrary to popular belief, pushbutton controls were optional on the Caribbean; this is one of very few with a conventional column-mounted shifter.
The Caribbean’s unique three-color paint scheme of Dover White, Shannon Green and Corsican Black is matched by a new top and interior, the latter retaining the factory seat belts. A new correct trunk kit has also been installed, and the car’s dual quad manifold and linkage are included.
