Inspired by the Pan American show car unveiled at the 1952 New York Auto Show, the 1953 Packard Caribbean convertible was an instant classic. Built on the 122-inch wheelbase Clipper chassis and limited to just 750 cars, the Caribbean featured hand-formed rear quarter panels with fully-rounded wheel openings, as well as a Continental kit, chromed wire wheels and a higher level of trim than its Clipper counterparts. Optional equipment included Packard’s Ultramatic automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, power front seat and power windows. All were equipped with Packard’s super-smooth 327/180 HP L-head Straight Eight engine.
This magnificent Matador Maroon convertible features a Beige power top over a White interior, making it a truly elegant example of Packard’s finest mid-Fifties offering.
