The Lamborghini Countach is one of the rare automobiles which not only cast great influence into popular culture during production but also became a desirable classic. The exotic Countach was an undisputed success during its production run and stands today as a universal automotive and cultural icon of performance and style. Perhaps no other single automobile is more recognizable as the ultimate road-going supercar. This red 1986 Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole was purchased new by Danny Wegman, who is now the CEO of Wegman’s, a privately-held grocery store chain that operates 88 stores in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.
The Lamborghini was Wegman’s first exotic Italian ride, but he reluctantly parted with the car after a short period of enjoyment. Even though Wegman separated from his lovely Lamborghini he gravitated back to Italian exotic cars in the intervening years. Wegman currently owns a one-off $4 million Ferrari F12 SP America finished in red that he personally commissioned from Maranello. But the Countach was his first exotic and he traded it for a Mercedes-Benz 560SL in 1988. The Lamborghini was immediately acquired the current owner who has preserved the car’s fascinating original condition in a climate-controlled facility for the past 28 years.
It now shows a mere 19,389 kilometers on the odometer. A product of the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory’s hand-built craftsmanship, this Countach is one of only 13 carbureted Quattrovalvole models imported to the United States in 1986. It still sports its original red paint and tan interior and rides on its original 15-inch staggered-width OZ wheels equipped with Pirelli tires. This Countach awaits a new owner with its original owner's manual in an Italian leather case. This is a rare opportunity to own a dream car that is an unrestored time capsule.
