The truth was that the Pontiac Trans Am that Burt Reynolds commanded in his role as Bandit in the classic film was perfect, but only because he never had to off-road it. Had Sheriff Buford T. Justice forced that pursuit off the pavement, his quarry could have made use of this incredible full custom Jeep Gladiator Bandit conversion. This is Custom Bandit Outlaw Edition No. XXVII, built on a 2022 Jeep Gladiator that already had a plethora of optional equipment off the assembly line. The driveline features the aluminum-block 3.6L V-6 Pentastar mill with 4-valve aluminum heads and an added Shaker visible through the hood.
It is backed up by an 8-speed automatic transmission and a set of Dana 44 heavy-duty front and rear axles. Adding to its functionality, just in case ol’ Buford is getting too close, there is a custom lift kit, augmented by special Bandit 20-inch custom wheels and large 38-inch tires. Should one encounter runaway bride Carrie at the curbside, she might need a little boost up. Of course, there is a traditional look that is always part of the Bandit’s mystique, and this Jeep is clad in a black and gold exterior with a black Freedom three-piece hardtop roof. There are Outlaw and Bandit graphics, gold accenting on the grille and bumpers, running boards and a soft-design bed cover.
The theme carries over to the black interior with bucket seats equipped with custom Bandit-logo headrests, carbon-fiber dash accents, a Bandit glovebox logo, the factory Technology and Convenience groups, and a multispeaker audio layout. The Bandit Outlaw Edition comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and continues to represent that iconic memory from silver screen history. For those who still remember the line, “I take my hat off for one thing, and one thing only,” this Bandit is ready, because unlike the Pontiac, it has inside roof space.
